My dog Buck, an English Pointer, was a wash out horseback field trial dog when he was one year old. That’s how I got him. I had trained many black labs in the years past before buying my first pointer. Up to the time that my problems began, I had a wonderful time hunting and field trialing him. With that being said, over the course of about a year, Buck developed an attitude that I tried to resolve myself. In short, he wanted to hunt for himself and would get disqualified in field trials instead of obeying me. After sometime, I decided my training techniques weren’t working.
That’s when I contacted Mark. He explained to me that with an 8 year old dog, it was questionable whether I would get the results I wanted. Mark knows me and what I expect from my dogs. There’s an old saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’. I’m here to tell you that is definitely not true here!! Mark and Mark Jr.’s patience and determination in working with and resolving the issues that I had with Buck really paid off. I have never had so much fun hunting and field trialing. In fact, the very first weekend that I had Buck back from training, I ran him in a trial and he got 1st place, a feat that we had never achieved in the two years prior. We had placed several times, qualified and ran in a national trial and finished in the top 16, but we had never achieved that all important 1st place. His wild bird hunting has also improved and it’s great to see him work the birds so well!! Buck is a great family dog and my kids are crazy about him. Thanks to Mark Sr. and Mark Jr., I don’t have to retire him. I can continue to field trial and hunt with my great dog! Thank you Mark Pace Sr. and Mark Pace Jr!!… I would highly recommend these trainers to anyone that wants help in training their hunting dog. They did wonders for Buck and me!!
